For the week of May 12-18, I am currently reading
I just finished A Man by Keiichiro Hirano yesterday, May 11. It was absolutely thought-provoking and I enjoyed it. I will post a full review soon. I chose A Man for Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Today and for the rest of this week, I will be reading Purple Hibiscus by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. I have seen a lot of appreciation for this novel in the online book community, so I am really looking forward to reading this one.
I have been debating whether to continue listening to nonfiction via audiobook as it is more challenging to stay actively engaged in facts and details by simply listening. I also found it more time consuming to annotate and remember key points for review. However, I really wanted to “read” while doing mundane housework (I felt that was valuable time wasted otherwise), so I am currently listening to How Happiness Happens by Max Lucado. I am thoroughly enjoying it so far, and it is a much needed pick me up from my last nonfiction read.
I prefer not to read two fiction books concurrently so that I can focus on the plot and character development in an individual story. So, once I am finished with my fiction pick for this week, I am planning to try an audiobook fiction selection next along with a nonfiction ebook. That timing will be perfect as I am going to try the Plug and Readathon challenge the week of May 17-23.
